Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Ultimate Edition App Reviews

Fantastic Storyline, one of the best!

Deus EX is a fantastic game of an epic journey to wisdom and the problems of our society. You can not stop playing the game until finished. There are games with better graphics, but the storyline is just amazing. The KI of the enemies is still one of the best. you can not predict how and where the enemies turn around and attack you. Even in a major battle it is hard to to find repetetive movements. The more experienced you become the better your enemies will react. You can decide if you want to develop yourself in a shooting killer machine, or to a sniper, hidden in the dark background. Big fun for a lot of evenings! Technical: MacOSX 10.9.2 MacPro 5,1, 2 x 2.4GHz, no problems

great !

it works perfectly on my Macbook Pro (early 2012), thanks to Feral great job guys keep going

Excellent Game!

I know it is a bit pricey, but I promise you will not be let down. the graphics and story line are amazing. You also have lots of freedom and choice throughout the game with many options to complete the storyline this game is awesome!

A great game and well ported

Its a great game you can get may reviews online with more details. More importantly runs amazingly on my early 2011 macbook pro. I wasnt expecting that for a game with such good graphics.

Best solo campaign on mac!

Deus ex human revolution is arguably the best game I have played on my mac so far. The controls are good, the graphics are stunning, the soundtrack is great, and with my ATI Readeon 6750m in my macbook I can play full settings with very rare frame rate drops. Feral did a great job on this port and I will be playing throught the game again for the second time shortly.

A great title ported to an even greater platform!

This game is AWESOME. I had bought it for PC, but I recently switched to a 27-inch iMac and even though I couldve installed Windows, I decided to pay again for the ported version. I feel that the power to play this game natively on Mac OS is worth every penny. Also, it is GORGEOUS on the 2560x1440 display of the iMac. The AMD Radeon 6970 1GB graphics renders everything FLAWLESSLY and Ive yet to see ANY graphical bugs. I run everything maxed out at the native resolution, with the exception of AA (which is pretty much useless at this resolution). Great game, in EVERY ASPECT, a must buy for any Mac gamer!

Mediocre

I loved the first Deus Ex to pieces. I still have the box, and it still plays on my 266mhz G3 All-In-One. That said, heres how I feel about this latest installment: It runs a tad poorly. ...forgets preferences, takes forever to load (which happens every time you die), cant seem to run at native Retina resolution. TERRIBLE voice acting, generic story, forgettable chracters... and fun gameplay. Lots of detail in the physical environments, but littered with poor attempts at worldbuilding — newspapaers, unlocked computers, and stray conversations — all repeat nearly identical tidbits of the most recent cinematic. The same could be said of the first Deus Ex; but this third installment cant pull it off — it is completely devoid of charm or character. I would happily have paid $5. Ive played for 3 hours and consider myself "done", and would like the rest of my money back.

Game Engine lacks Power

While the Game has a great scenario and several path and alternative story lines, I found playing DEHR less thrilling than the original Deus Ex. This is due to mostly three things: - The game engine is not as efficient as Unreal, it produces beautiful images but is unplayable when you crank the visual quality up. I own a MacBook Pro Core duo at 2.53 Ghz with 8 Gig ram and a SSD also the video card is a respectable NVidia GE Force 9600 GT with 512 meg ram. But even with my setup I had to lower the quality a lot and even then it feels sluggish. Compared to games using the the Unreal engine, the Crystal Dynamics engine used by DEHR is very inferior and outdated. - The original game was dark you could hide in the shadows and that was the trademark of the original game; it was moody and atmospheric. In contrast, DEHR is very bright, even when lowering the brightness, everything remains quite high and even; the feeling is quite bland. - The game is slow to evolve and convoluted; the action is sparse and I felt there was too many cut scenes where you have to wait instead of interacting.

Best MAC game ever!

While this is the best MAC game I have ever played, it does miss a couple of elements of the original DEUS EX game. For the average player not having played the original game on mac/pc ten years ago this will just resound with them as an amazing game. Its like a futuristic choose your own adventure game along the lines of Metal Gear, but Jensen is way better than Snake. Gotta say I really love this game. I kep coming back to keep playing the different levels in search of easter eggs and hidden weapons/upgrade caches. This game can easily be played for hours. For those who have kids please note that there is some foul language and swearing, but it is fairly limited. Having two kids of my own, I would not recommend this game for any child under 12. I hope they remake the original with all the new graphics engines to keep them more in line with each other.

good game but..

its in a way frustrating, being discovered, when theres no apparent reasons is annoying, they give us the possibility to play sneaky, but it never works.. sometimes u shoot enemies in the head.. threee times and they are still alive.. i dont know, its a bit inconsistent.. oh and the players voice is really overdone.. and its still 40$ for mac, but nice game

Nothing short of Game perfection (made in Canada)

I have tried many games for both PC and Mac and I have to say this is game is deserving of craftsmanship awards. The story is both thought provoking, the gameplay amazing and the graphics are top tier! I’m thinking this game could be easily turned into a movie as it has hints of bladerunner with a police drama plot line. (very well voice acted) For the record I have played other Deus Ex games, and this one is excellent! CAUTION! Having played this game on a lower end machine (Core2Duo 2.93Ghz MacBook Pro 17”) I found the gameplay EXTREMELY clunky and as such would only reccomend a 2011 MacBook Pro or higher system run this game due to the fact it’s need for faster video card with higher amounts of VRAM. Excellent results on a Cutomized MacPro with a GTX 700 series card (GTX Titan) installed.

Fails to run.

’13 iMac, OSX 10.9.2. Does not even get to splash screen. Money is gone.

Quit Working

I have had this game for awhile now and I can say it was one of my favorites until recently I logged in and it quit working. It came up with an error report that said it would be sent to apple and I have has no response about the game. I decided that perhaps I could delete it and reinstall it. When I did that the application asked me to pay for it again and obviously I am not doing that as I have paid for it once already. And also I have no guranteee it would work. So I have to say thumbs down on this game because at some point many others will undoubtably experience my frustration and loss.

AWESOME!

Great game! Love the story. Its a lot of fun and really addicting to play

Do not purchase on 10.10.4!

Deus Ex refuses to run at all on my Mac Pro (2013) running 10.10.4. Not even a splash screen appears, it simply bounces the icon a few times then quits. Until there’s a compatibility update, I strongly recommend avoiding this game if you’re running 10.10.4 or later.

Ran great for a while.

Don’t know if it’s the last OS update but the game simply does not start anymore… :(

No longer supported - Do Not Buy

This was a great game but the developer no longer supports it on the latest Mac OS and it will just crash before the splash screen. If you want to play this, buy the version on Steam instead.

DEUS EX HUMAN REVOLUTION

The Best Game!

Fantastic Experience!

You don’t need to be cybernetically, or artificially enhanced to enjoy this truly groundbreaking game. Remniscient of the original Deus Ex from 2000, this game gives the player total freedom of choice to interact with the gaming world in whatever the player deems appropriate. Want to go in guns blazing? —No Problem! The plethora of guns available will keep even the most die-hard FPS fans happy. Want to try a sneaky and non-confrontational approach instead? — No Problem! The game encourages stealth over brawn. With its flowing, open approach to mission structure, thoroughly engrossing story and gorgeous visuals, this is the kind of game that will keep you engrossed in the story and gives Deus Ex fans a true follow-up to the revolutionary original Deus Ex in 2000. The only gripe I had with this game is that it doesn’t seem to be too optimised for Mac. Even with a very powerful MacBook Pro (Retina 2014), the game feels a bit sluggish and the cooling fans sound like a Jet-Engine when playing… Headphones are a must for this game, if you’re on a MacBook Pro.

Not enough space to install

That’s a lie, I have 70 GB available.
